X stores every video and Video on its own servers in MP4 format. When you see a Video on X, it has already been converted to a silent looping MP4 — the format is up to 90% smaller than a raw Video, which is why X uses it at scale. The problem is that X gives users no way to access that file directly.

ThreadVideoDownloader fetches that MP4 in real time using the public Threads post URL you provide and delivers it straight to your device. Nothing is stored on our servers. Nothing is cached. The process is instant, private, and leaves no trace.
